The project, funded by the HEA Psychology Network, is a qualitative study of students' experiences of studying undergraduate psychology, comparing students who have a background in psychology (either at A-Level or equivalent) with students who have come to degree level without prior experience.
The project involves students from five HEI departments across the UK and data is being collected during the period September 2005 - June 2006 using the PsYonline website.
Students at all institutions have already completed a short questionnaire to collect demographical information. Over the next 10 months these students will be asked to login three more times to complete further questionnaires, so that students’ experiences can be mapped across the whole academic year. The times of these questionnaires are as follows:
- January (start of semester two)
- March/April (Easter)
- June (end of the academic year)
In addition some students are also completing a log book of their experiences and others will be taking part in phone interviews.
